Dr. Bernardo is the medical director of the Peripheral Vascular Laboratory at MedStar Heart Institute, as well as the director for Peripheral Intervention at the Cardiovascular Research Institute at MedStar Research Institute, and the co-chair for cardiac peripheral vascular diseases. Nelson Lim Bernardo, MD, attended the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines, and received his medical degree in 1986. Then, he served his residency with the Philippines General Hospital. Furthermore, upon relocating to the United States, he conducted his residencies in internal medicine at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and the Medical College of Virginia. In addition, he completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease medicine and interventional cardiology at the Medical College of Virginia-VCU. In addition, Dr. Bernardo received board certification in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
